The ceremony was held in the atrium of the National Theatre in Belgrade. In the atmosphere of a changed social climate and increasing optimism, Milanka Karic, president of the Foundation, has addressed the audience: “I wish to believe that the time ahead of us is a time when our children will no longer leave for foreign countries out of necessity, but out of pleasure. The youth of Serbia has been migrating to the world long enough and it is now high time for the world to come to Serbia, the country of youth. The primary aim that has led to the establishing of this award would in that way finally assume its full significance. That would also be a chance for the family that I am part of, to demonstrate through an unmistakable national and patriotic belief that it belongs to its nation not only by birth but also by the awareness that it will forever remain so.”
The entertainment part of the programme consisted of the following performers: Snezana Spasic, singer of traditional folk music, Ciga Jerinic, the leading drama actor of the National Theatre, who has given an inspiring recital of The Great Family Poem by Ljubomir Simovic, from A Miracle in Sargan drama and the “Kolibri” Children Choir. Miodrag-Mrgud Radovanovic hosted the programme.
